6th of July

This is one of my favorite days of the year. It's the Annual Pickert Family Golf Tournament day. We get together as a family and challenge each other to claim the family trophy and raz our family about who is best, who is on time and who will be the team to finally break the Uncle Jim losing streak.

More than anything, this day is near the summer half-way mark and while we've had a ton of fun already, there is still 5 more weeks to enjoy this break with the overall family.

Yesterday was a great example of inventing fun out of nothing. The test was have a fun day without going to a store. Too often we fill in gaps with Sam's Club, Costco, Target or the Dollar Store. (Remind me to tell you about my $2 Store big idea. It will blow your mind." So while we spent the first hour in the morning going through the routine of each daughter asking what we are doing today, we came up with a creative list and had a great day.

11am: Go for a walk. Stop half way because people are tired and Dad carries the bike back home
12noon: Play "Chopped" home game to create a healthy lunch. Carley picks mystery ingredients. My favorite was whipped cream.
2pm: Go swimming
3pm: Go to Sonic for happy hour. Technically it's a store but we were thirsty.
4pm: Prep dinner.
5pm: Go to Mass. It was a wonderful service.
6pm: Watch the women's world cup championship game. Go USA 5-2 over Japan!
6:45pm: Eat awesome chicken/hot wing/corn-on-the-cob/baked potato/ceasar salad dinner
7:30pm: Eat awesome home made dessert pizza courtesy of Aubrey
8:30pm: Watch Spongebob out of water movie. Pretty funny
10pm: Go to bed

It was definitely a fun summer day. Lisa and I even sneaked in 3 episodes of House of Cards. AND the Cardinals won, the Royals won and Team USA won. Perfect sports day. Yes, we are tired. But it's a good tired.

More to come.
