Back to What?

Seriously. Back to the Future? Yes please. Back to Basics? Not all that exciting but sometimes necessary. Back to Bacon? Always.

But Back to School will always remind me of the smell of fresh tar on the roof, plastic bus seats bouncing my daydreams into earthquakes and the end of freedom. It's not that I don't like school. I just don't like the going back to it part. I like the out for summer part. So much so that I just want summer to be endless.

But endless it cannot be (Say in a Yoda voice).

Although it is worth noting some of the summer memories.

Like just tonight, Hadley and I are going for a walk with Carley. Normally she brings a drink of water, hot cocoa or juice. Today she brought a bowl of shredded cheese. Last week we were playing washers and she asked me flat out, "you want the pinch or the scratch". What do you say to that? She chased me around the yard with her little pinching/scratching fingers.

Aubrey calls BS on me too often. But I catch her, too. Like when we told her to stop asking us to drive her to target to buy something with her gift card. She asked, "Can someone who knows how to drive take me to Target to buy something with my gift card?". And she caught me "fake reading" them to sleep. I actually read all the story, but inserted funny things into the story that were not there. Like saying, "The hands of the clock told her it was time to take out the cookies. And the click stuck out it's tongue to try and take a bite as she walked by with the oven treats."

Sydney has cute hair. Looks just like Mom and a little like Aunt Melissa. She loves to read. Do crafts and be a big sister to Carley. She is also developing quite a knack for building things from leftover stuff in our garage. Like the drywall picnic table from our laundry room rebab.

Carley is just plain cute. She's 16 pounds of love and smiles.
